Cascade FC Policy on Playing Up

For players trying out for an older team, for player safety we have the following guideline:

  • For U9 and U12 teams - player must place in the top 5 of age group "up".
  • For U13 through U14 teams - player must place in the top half of age group "up" of the total number of players taken onto a team.

  • For U15 through U19 teams - dependent on individual team needs, at coach's discretion.

NOTE: If you plan to tryout for an older age group, you will be able to note that on the registration HOWEVER it is advised you also attend at least one tryout session at your true age.

Special circumstances may exist that would warrant additional consideration. Any such consideration would be on a case by case basis by the Club Administrator (and possibly the SnVYSA BOD) and would not set precedent for other situations or future circumstances.

Tryout Details

Annual Open Season Tryouts are April-May of each year. (Boys U16-U19 in Feb) There may be opportunities to tryout for individual team open roster spots during the season. Schedule will be posted on website when registration becomes available. Expect two (2) scheduled tryout days. You must be pre-registered online.

Please come prepared to play soccer. You are competing. That means come with the mindset to listen to coaches and to work hard on the pitch. Team selection are based on the performances at the tryout sessions. Dress appropriately for the weather, for you'll be playing in rain or shine.

There are no grandfathered spots. This is your opportunity to show the evaluators your skills and your desire to be on a team.

The Cascade FC team coach from the age group will be running the sessions, while independent coaches watch and evaluate players. Players are ranked each day, and team(s) are then formed based on session performances and ranking. (See Bylaws, Article XII, for more specific info.)

We understand that there may be conflicts between the tryout schedule and other events. It is in the players best interest that they attend both tryout sessions. Please inform the Administrator if you will be missing either of the sessions, or if your child is sick and/or running a fever.

Roster sizes. U13 and older teams will have a maximum of 18 players. U11 and U12 (play 9v9) teams will have a maximum roster of 14 players; U9 and U10 (play 7v7) teams will have a maximum roster of 12 players.

Cascade FC reserves the right to add players to team rosters above the maximum if circumstance arise.

Coaches will contact players within 1-3 days after last scheduled tryout.
