Mod (Birth years 2012-2009)

The Mod program means modified soccer where the instruction for each player transitions to a focus on player development. This is achieved by coaches providing instruction to players that will improve their skills and execution techniques as well as provide them with continued awareness of game strategies. 

A.  Team Formation:

Teams are gender specific and a size 4 ball is used.

U9 & U10 teams:

  • Preferred maximum of 10 players on a roster, but allowed 12.
  • Seven players per team are on the field at a time; 6 field players and one goalie. (7v7)

U11 & U12 teams:

  • Preferred maximum of 12 players on a roster, but allowed 14.
  • Nine players per team are on the field at a time; 8 field players and one goalie. (9v9)

B.  Practices & Games:

  • Parents should hear from their players coach by mid-July. If you don’t hear from a coach by July 25th, please email your cities Club Representative.  Practices will begin the first week of August.  
  • Games are played on a modified field (bigger than a micro, quarter full field, but smaller than a full field).
  • Games will start the first Saturday after Labor Day and end just before Thanksgiving. 

U9 & U10 teams:

  • Games are played against other teams within SnVYSA. 
  • Games are two 25 min halves.

U11 & U12 teams:

  • Games are played against teams within SnVYSA and Eastside Youth Soccer Association(EYSA), a partnering association. 
  • Games are two 30 min halves.

*U11/U12 Teams in this division are eligible to register for the Washington State Youth Soccer Association Recreational Cup (WSYSA) which begins in October.

C.  Volunteers:

  • Coaches are comprised of parent volunteers.  
  • In house referees may sign up to officiate games. If there is no referee assigned to a Home game, a parent volunteer must referee the game. 
  • Parent volunteers to help with team management tasks.

D.  Season & Time Commitment:

  • Games will start the first Saturday after Labor Day and end just before Thanksgiving.
  • The time commitment is 2 practices a week for approximately 1 hour each practice and 1 game on Saturday.  

E.  Field Location:

Practice and game locations will vary by age group and city.  View Home Fields by club/city.

F.  What To Bring:

  • Soccer cleats, no baseball cleats allowed.
  • Shin guards: All kids MUST have shin guards to play in any practices or games.
  • Water bottle

G.  Uniforms:

U9 & U10 teams:

Each player is provided a reversible game jersey by the association at no charge.  Coaches will hand these out to players at a practice prior to games starting based on size requested during online registration.

U11 & U12 teams:

Each player will need to purchase a uniform kit (This will include a home and away jersey, a pair of shorts, and a pair of socks).  Order here: Uniform Kits
